Oswald ("Ossie") O'Brien (6 April 1928 – 10 March 1997) was a British Labour Co-operative politician.
He was born Oswald O'Brien into a family of teachers in 1928, in Darlington. From St Mary's Grammar School he went to Faircroft College and St Cuthbert's Society in the University of Durham before National Service in the Navy.
O'Brien was an official of the Co-operative College.
O'Brien was elected Member of Parliament for Darlington in the March 1983 by-election following the death of Edward Fletcher. But in the general election in June, he lost the seat to Conservative candidate Michael Fallon having held the seat for a mere eleven weeks. He never re-entered Parliament.
